Art Card - 4"x6" - Hula-skirt Siphonophore
———————————
Shot at Lover’s Point, Monterey, CA.. This animal was discovered adrift in a kelp forest home to several sea otters. Siphonophores are not just one animal; instead they are a ‘colony’ of many smaller animals that each serve a different function and work together to survive. This species is strictly deep sea, so to find this creature in less than several feet of water is a rare opportunity. The most interesting thing about diving between Vancouver Island and Northern California is not how distinct they are, but how strikingly similar they can be. It would take a skilled biologist to distinguish a photo taken in California from one taken on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.

This card is 4”x6” in size.
Art cards come sealed in a cellophane sleeve to protect from smudges and fingerprints. Each card comes with an appropriately sized envelope for shipping or hand delivery. Unique ornamentation inspired by the featured species is present on the inside of each card.
In addition to the common and latin names of the animals featured, the time, location, and description of the photograph are featured on the back of the card.
Art cards are proudly printed in Campbell River, B.C. 🇨🇦
