Luckily for the naturalists among us who haven’t made the plunge into scuba diving or free diving, some of the strangest local creatures prefer to spend their days as close to the surface of the sea as they can get. The Moon jelly is among the most renowned of these animals, readily seen and admired from harbours, beaches, and boats. In some coastal fjords, Moon jellies will appear in massive numbers during the summer to feed on the rich phytoplankton thriving in the sun.
